Alex

Prior to his move to San Francisco in 2009, Alejandro Rivas was a professional ballet dancer. In addition to touring nationally with the David Taylor Dance Theater, Alex has performed with Moraporvida Contemporary Dance, 7 dancers, and the International Youth Ballet.  Currently he is pursuing a career as a visual artist under the pseudonym of NIGHTSHADE.  He has a fresh contemporary vision creating pop art and multimedia commentaries on the beautiful tragedy of youth and the human condition.  Dance technique is my formal training. With the knowledge of form and function drawn from ballet, I will recycle and reapply my knowledge to different areas of artistic expression. I create paintings, video installations, and short films. When creating, I always place a heavy emphasis on opulence, color, and power. These themes are present in all of my works. The defining attribute that makes me unique is first and foremost the fact that I am a dancer!  My art moves and reads like a romantic ballet, a ballet in which real life and fiction are melded together in a magnificent presentation.

I bring my love of art and movement to my dog grooming.  My scissors are my paint brush and your dog is my moving canvas.
